The Charter Committee of Greater Cincinnati has endorsed the Cincinnati Public Schools levy (Issue #10).
Charter President Michael Goldman stated,"The Charter Committee has endorsed and will support the proposed Cincinnati Public School 7.89 mill tax levy which will be on the ballot March 4th. When Charter endorsed the CPS tax levy last November, we recommended that citizens vote for the levy while at the same time we insisted upon greater accountability from CPS and from the school board. We believed that the district was losing credibility with the voters. The failure of the November levy made it clear that CPS needed to take significant steps to rebuild the public's confidence. The Charter Committee is endorsing this school tax levy because we believe that several of those steps are now underway." See the full statement.
The Charter Committee of Greater Cincinnati has endorsed the Cincinnati Zoo levy (Issue #17). The levy is a renewal with a slight increase within the rate of inflation (.46 mils). Levy proceeds are restricted to the feeding and care of animals, horticulture and building maintenance and repair.
Charter President Michael Goldman stated, “The levy is very reasonable considering the tremendous cultural and economic impact of the zoo. Charter supports Issue #17 without hesitation.”
The zoo is the least subsidized in the state of Ohio. It is one of southwestern Ohio region’s leading cultural attractions, drawing over one million visitors annually, 42,500 family memberships and more than 1,000 volunteers. The Zoo is also an internationally recognized leader in conservation programs.
